About The Artist

Dana Sparks is a native Texan

She is essentially a self-taught artist who did not beginning painting until age 40. She began her art career in graphic design and it gradually merged to painting. She later took classes and workshops in various venues around Texas to be continuously learning new techniques and experiencing the pleasure of working with other artists. She has traveled extensively and thru this acquired an awareness and appreciation of the dramatic spectrum of colors, textures, architecture, and landscapes around her that frequently reappear in her work.

She paints primarily in acrylics with limited forays into oils and watercolor. In the beginning the paintings were large abstracts, pieces which sold well to corporate accounts, but she realized not everyone has the space for the large pieces in their homes and has begun to work smaller. She continues to paint non- representational work but expanded her repertoire to landscapes and abstract landscapes even a few pet portraits.

She has had many solo and group exhibitions in galleries in Houston, Galveston, Tyler, and Austin. Her work has been collected by corporate accounts and private individuals.
