STANLEY JOHN ALBERTS Oct. 19, 1935 - Sept. 9, 2004 Stanley Alberts, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2004. He was born and raised in Iowa to Henry and Ruth Alberts. He graduated from University High School in Iowa City in 1954, and shortly thereafter joined the United States Army, until he was honorably discharged in 1957. Stan then moved to Houston, Texas in 1957, and worked for a period as a barber at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Additionally, Stan served for several years in the 1970's as the president of the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital Credit Union. Stan was an accomplished, self-taught artist and sculptor, best known for his series of sculptures entitled "Women of the Field", detailing the lives of migrant farm workers, and his series of busts of the Great Conductors. In addition to being an artist, Stan was an avid golfer, and a true lover of the sport
